Alexander Della Grotta, 95, of North Providence, passed away Monday, April 5, 2010 at home. He was the beloved husband of Anna (Vallante) Della Grotta. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late Angelo and Maria Della Grotta.
Alexander was a postal clerk at the Providence Turn Key Post Office until his retirement in 1983. A Veteran of WWII, he was involved with the Fogarty Center and was very dedicated to his family
He leaves two sons, Alexander Della Grotta, Jr. and Michael Della Grotta; two daughters, Mary Pine and Celeste Della Grotta; four grandchildren, Alan, Maria, Damon and Alexa and a great granddaughter, Allana. He was the brother of the late Peter, Mario and Lena Della Grotta.
His funeral will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m., from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence with a Mass of Christian burial at 10:30 a.m. in St Thomas Church, Fruit Hill Ave., Providence. Visitation Thursday 5-8 p.m. Burial will be in St Ann Cemetery, Cranston. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to The John E. Fogarty Center, 220 Woonasquatucket Ave., North Providence, RI 02911.
