Peter J. Skeffington, 77, of Glocester, passed away Friday July 28, 2017 at the Philip Hulitar Hospice Center in Providence. He was the beloved husband of Carolyn (Girelli) Skeffington. Born in Providence, he was the son of the late William and Mary Elizabeth (Barrow) Skeffington.

A toolmaker by trade, Pete enjoyed hunting, painting and turning wooden bowls. He was a longtime member of the NRA and Cranston Fish & Game Association where he was known for his Saturday pizza and bread making. He was active in local politics serving one term on the Foster/Glocester school committee. 

Along with his wife, he is survived by his daughters, Kathleen Murray and her husband John, and Elizabeth Towle and her husband Michael; a sister, Mary Gensinger, and five grandsons. He was the father of the late Peter J. Skeffington, Jr., and a brother of the late William G. Skeffington, Jr. and Joanne Skeffington.

His funeral will be held Monday, July 31, 2017 at 8:15 a.m. from the Maceroni Funeral Home, 1381 Smith St., North Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in St. Eugene Church, 1251 Putnam Pike, Chepachet. Burial will be in St. Ann Cemetery, Cranston. Visiting hours Sunday 4-7 p.m.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Peter’s memory may be made to the Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, 565 Ashford Center Rd., Ashford, CT 06278. maceroni.com.
